Justice - ‘Woman’
Vinyl Cover Illustration
To redesign the artwork of a contemporary musical album. The album cover must be representative of the tone of the music and the audience targeted.
I chose the album "Woman" by Justice because it is not music I would normally listen to, therefore it will be more challenging and I can research into new areas of graphic design. My target audience is males and females who enjoy music made by Justice. I want my album cover to look gender neutral with an electric, modern feel to it.
Idea Generation / Design Stage.
Starting with a simple drawing of a bearded man, I then developed it further to make it look like he was listening to the music, intending that this album sounds great through your headphones. I think this design gave an overall indie feel to the album.
Vinyl Cover.
I put the album name in a symbol typeface (Wing- dings 3), I did this because it brought a graphics feel to the front cover and it stands out from other album designs. Using bright colours like yellow and red together worked well because it gave a unison feel throughout the cover and yell acrylic vinyl.
Delivery.
I think the design reflects the style of music well and reflect Justice as a band by including elements from their previous album covers like the symbolic cross.
The colour palette attracts people to the vinyl because it is bold and simple. I have been given compliments about the illustration so I think it was a successful outcome.
